    My DIY bridge hammock

    Aloha,
My family did our first hammock camping in Kauai in July. I think we're hooked. We had picked up an REI quarterdome bridge hammock when they were on clearance. Unfortunately, my wife and I both found the bridge hammock way more comfortable than the gathered end hammocks and we only had one. Since they are no longer sold and many of the cottage bridge hammock vendors are sold out and the fact that I had specific criteria in building this hammock as I wanted it to fit within my hammock stand (which is only 9 feet long), I went to the DIY path.
Thanks to the many informative posts on this forum, I can say my first DIY hammock is a success-it fits perfectly into the 9 foot span and is very comfortable. I even put in pockets on the end for a beverage/iphone holder and book pocket.
Mahalo for all the wisdom on this forum.

Looks like a quick & easy way to make a gathered-end hammock more spacious, and on a 9-ft stand! Details, please! What are the poles & pole-ends you're using? How do they attach to the hammock sides?

The main hammock body is 72" long, 44" on the ends with 6" cuts. I used ENO Fuse tandem spreader bars for the ends. These are 29.5" I made adjustable whoopie sling dogbones so I can adjust the height but find that 25" makes it fit perfect into the 9' hammock stand. I assembled the way Bic does except for the end caps extending them 18" along the suspension triangle to make the hammock a bit longer. I made a channel on the ends and shock-corded the end caps. The dogbones attach to the hammock body webbing via lark's heads. The ENO fuse tandem spreader bars simply click into the lark's head via the mini-carabiners on their ends. I have about 6 nights in the hammock and find it very comfortable. I'm 5'8" and 155 pounds.

Great looking bridge! Looks like you have at least one other in the background. What have you tried?
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

In the background are a Hennessy Scout (for my son) and an REI quarter dome air bridge (for my wife).
