    Permethrin on bug net?

Just getting into hammock camping but I can't seem to find a definitive answer on this, is permethrin on a bug net redundant? I have read where lots of people do and I'm just wondering why and if it's something I should bother with. Is it that some nets don't provide adequate protection? I have a WB Eldorado arriving monday and wondering after doing some poking around on here is it's something I'm going to want to do.

I spray permethrin on my bug net. The netting is enough to keep them from biting you. But I find that the permethrin helps to keep the mosquitoes further away, and not have them buzzing right by my ear while I'm trying to sleep.

I use it on my bug net and the underside of my hammock. Playing it safe to deter those Lyme carrying ticks. Also to keep those mosquitoes from getting at me through the hammock and netting materials where my skin is up against it. I was getting bit in the back, through the underside of the hammock, and ever since I'd treated it, it has been a non issue.

Fall asleep with your hand pressing against an untreated bugnet and you'll soon appreciate permethrin.

Yes, exactly. Sometimes my bugnet ends up resting on my face, and I'd get bitten through it save for permethrin.

Good stuff. I'll keep using it until they say it causes cancer...but only in California.

I don't know, they said it was safe. And I usually trust they.
