I've hiked the trail and there are quite a few stretches that are alpine with not a lot of tall or stout enough trees for hammock hanging. Other stretches that drop down into the stream drainages would be fine. Thoroughly enjoyed the trail. I almost got stomped by a bull at the Squirrel Meadows trailhead. I stunk so bad that I think the bull thought I was either a competing suitor to his cows or he had amorous intents Fortunately, my hiking partner yelled at me in time and I escaped around some of the parked vehicles.
I might recommend bringing something so you could go to ground if you have to, TBH. Or pitch like Shug: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0j54vMKGhiQ
