Ground anchors instead of a spreader bar to separate two hammocks?

Stumbled across these. They are lightweight and packable.

    https://www.amazon.com/Orange-Screw-...dp/B01B28QS8G/

My idea is that, instead of using a spreader bar to distance one end of two hammocks, the end of the hammocks could be guyed out to these anchors and "pulled" apart from each other. This separates the two hammocks suspensions which completely removes motion transfer. It also allows for spread distance to be customized on the fly.

    Thoughts? Anyone tried this?

I think it just might work! Since you're just using them at one end of the hammocks it should be fine - I would leave a little slack in the line to prevent hammock wear/damage.

Sounds like a good idea. I had thought of guying out a spreader bar to stop motion transfer, but not taking the idea to its logical conclusion and ditching the bar altogether. Eager to hear if you learn anything unexpected in trial.

Which line are you recommending slack in? When someone gets in the hammock it's going to go taut and pull against the stake.

The line to the stake - but I could be wrong.

This is an interesting idea. Any idea of the forces involved, and the optimal angle for staking out each hammock?

The benefit of the spreader bar is you remove the ground quality issue. Around here, you are lucky if you can go six inches deep without hitting lava rock. Where I paddle, your “ground” might be sand. I’ve experienced plenty of times where even putting in just a tent peg would be a challenge. So for me, it’s not that “guying out” wouldn’t work, it’s that it adds a dependency (ground quality) rather that independency to the situation.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

These are one of the options supplied with the Tensa4 hammock stands -- you can read a lot about how (& when) they work best in that subforum!

It’s worth noting that Tensa Outdoor sells only the Large OS, not the cheaper Small ones linked in this thread. More than one user has dinged Tensa for “overcharging” for OS when they are not talking the same product!

You could also forgo the stakes and simply use trees, bushes or other natural features. However, I probably would prefer a spreader bar to extra guy lines. I already trip over the tarp guy lines
