    Treeboats

I know there are/were a few people here who like to get really high up to hang their hammocks. I always wondered how they got in and out, but apparently there is such a thing as hammocks designed for this very purpose called treeboats. From what I can tell they are generally shorter, bridge style heavy duty things. Has anyone used one of these? I'm interested in attempting some adrenaline-pumping relaxation.

You might want to check out Tree Fool's videos as he hangs way up in trees. Crazy but cool too.

The originals were a gang of eccentric climbers and scientists in the PNW, who pioneered climbing giant redwoods. Along the way, they figured out how to sleep 350 feet above the ground.

I guess if you're the high up in the tree, you can just sleep with your food instead of hanging it?

Probably evolved from rock/mountain climbers who developed ways to sleep while hanging off a rope.

Blasphemy! That How Stuff Works article says hammocks are uncomfortable and that portaledges are much better! They must not be doing it right.
