Found this in an old thread. Won't help this specific situation but 1000' of 1.75mm zing for $145 shipped could make a great deal for a group buy.

Shipping the group buy stuff out might cancel out that savings though.

I have tried a couple of other UHMWPE ropes but haven't found anything that comes close to Samson ropes. The strength might be the same, but either the coating was so thick, that it behaved more like a cable, or the coating was so thin, that the fibers were easily pulled. The only other UHMWPE rope with a great coating was the Dyneema Ironwire (not the current version!) from Lawson that is not available anymore unfortunately. Lash-It / Zing-It splices easiest, and I have never pulled fibers on e.g. tree bark.

I bought the Notch Acculine for a ridgeline and tie-outs Boy do I regret it. The tension knots don't work due to the waxy coating. I'm super happy with zing-it now. I'm afraid to try other types of line now.

The thing I like about Zing-It is that is spliceable. I don't do knots, other than a marlin spike hitch (for stakes), a larkshead (for attaching guylines to the tarp), and a slippery half hitch for just about anything else.

In ten years of hammock camping, I've bought maybe five rolls of Zing-It, and it's been great. However, last time I needed a roll, I decided to go with a Zing-It like 1.75 mm UHMWPE rope that looked like Zing-It, but the coating made it impossible to splice. Once burned, twice shy. So from now on, I'm sticking with Zing-It!
