How do you get 30* on each side if the feet side is supposed to be higher?

Setting up a borrowed WB XLC and i've had a good night and a terrible night in it. What I can't quite figure out is if I'm supposed to have the feet end about 16" higher than the head end, and I'm also supposed to have 30*, does that mean I have to have the feet end higher up on the tree? I used the calculator at ultimate hang and it shows the same height for both sides.

Is the feet higher just a WB thing or more universal for GE hammocks of similar size?

My sore back appreciates any help.

    Foot Anchor 77"
    Foot Hammock 52"
    Head Anchor 66"
    Head Hammock 39"

Yeah, in my WB hammock I'm closer to the head end than in my DW. Go to the WB site here: https://www.warbonnetoutdoors.com/hammocks-101/

See how how much higher the foot end is? This was my mistake when I first set it up...I set it like I would my DW, and had really bad calf ridge.

I couldn’t get any comfort out of my Warbonnet until I set the hammock up to get a loose ridge line. More angle on the suspension and quite a bit higher at the foot end. And it still isn’t great. It hasn’t gone to the woods with me yet.

Yes, foot end higher up the tree.

Universal for gathered-end hammocks, although some find level more comfortable. HYOH.

Hang you footend closer to the tree than your head end.
Also helps to read Warbonnets set up guide from their website: https://www.warbonnetoutdoors.com/hammocks-101/

I did read their site. It seems I'm pretty close to that. Will shorten the suspension on the foot end to lift it (since the anchor is fixed). I'll keep playing with it. Bless you who can sleep on your backs so easily!

    Hi

I have my foot end about 18 inches high then head end and that seems to work for me,(I have played around with all settings) if I have the foot end any higher it makes sitting up and getting out a little more awkward , all of a sudden you will think ahhhhh that feels better, and also ridge line with a bit of bend in it helps me, not guitar string tight, sometimes my foot end has been 25 degree but the head end roughly 30 degree, I pitch foot end approx 20 inches from the tree with becket straps, just play around a bit. but this gives a head start

You can fine tune the difference between the hammock's head end height and foot end height by adjusting the ropes to the anchor points. You definitely want to shorten the foot end rope. Keep experimenting. Toss the book and check Warbonnet.

Just make it 150 degrees on the other end. Easy!

Be careful not to get too tied to those numbers. Remember, they are a suggestion; a starting point. That said, the BlackBird and XLC are somewhat unique in that they have a “foot shelf” built into the foot end of the hammock.

There are levels you could buy - string levels to put on your ridge line to know when you are completely level (the ground can be deceiving) and adjust from there. There are levels set at 30 degrees you can put on your suspension line to get that angle more exact. You can put an app on your phone that shows you the inclination, etc.

As you have an XLC, get an idea of a starting place with the videos suggest above, then tinker with it a bit. But “feels good”, rather than some numerical target, would be a worthy goal.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.
