    SHT Question

I'm trying to figure out our mileage between campsites for an up coming trip. The mileage calculator I found on line has our starting point listed as Temperance river wayside. Would this be the trailhead at highway 61 or at Temperance river Rd? Thanks

The wayside is on 61 but I don’t think there is overnight parking at the wayside. 16CC4308-FEE7-4290-B58C-1159E3EC2A8A.jpg

There is a small parking lot (about 3 or 4 cars) for the trail on Temperance River road( or what ever road right by river) right off 61 to the left as you head North. Before you get to Temperance River State Park. I have parked there several times.

Here is what the guidebook says for that part,

"Beginning trailhead parking directions: At Hwy. 61 milepost 80.3 on left side of highway. Look for SHT sign. Overnight parkign at wayside is not allowed. For overnight parking, check in at the state park office to be directed to parking area. State park sticker required for overnight parking."

The first step in this section is listed as, "Trailhead at Temperance River Wayside parking lot." This seems to be on highway 61 just after Temperance Rd. Guessing it would be here on google maps:

They must have changed that. Been a couple of years since I parked there and there was never an No Overnight Parking sign which the SHT usually has up if they don't want you to park there. Was a handy spot to go to the Cross River camps.

Thanks all. Sounds like you have to get a state park permit then they let you overnight park in a specific area.

Thanks for the help. The park contacted me and there is a designated parking spot for SHT hikers that you are directed to after getting a permit
