I have not cleaned my hammock with a bugnet yet but I was planning to hand wash in the bathtub with Dr Bronner soap. I have washed my ENO and my Dream hammock (without the bug net) like that. My canvas, linen and the nylon ones that I made I just toss in the washing machine. I put the cotton ones in the dryer but the Nylon ones I hang outside to dry.

I just checked and my first canvas hammock was a bliss Double Hammock that I got from Amazon. I cut the clues out and turned it into a gathered in by using webbing. I took the webbing out and washed in the washing machine a few times a month. Had it for 8 years or more.

When you are talking about a washing machine, I hope you are referring to a front loader. A top loader with that agitator can tear apart a sleeping bag or other bulky delicate material like a bug net.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

I was talking about the top load with the agitator but I only did that with cotton or heavy nylon taffeta with no bug net and with all the suspension removed.

The nylon hammocks were homemade out of table cloth material or the original ENO.

Any other hammock I would recommend hand washing.

I torn a sleeping bag to shreds that way - but you can imagine how heavy the sleeping bag was when saturated with water.

Maybe just a hammock would be safe but wouldn’t be easier/safer to just take it to a laundromat. They usually have non-agitator washers.
