I use my 2Q table a lot. I cut a 1/2" slot in the front edge and use a light ti chain to suspend a pot with a bale over whatever stove I'm using. The height of the pot over the stove is easy to adjust by simply slipping a different link of the chain into the slot. The ability to fine-tune the heat makes cooking oatmeal over a jetboil or a 4-Dog BushCooker a snap. At the same time the table surface is available for a bowl, cup, implements, etc. When I got this I thought it would be more than I wanted to carry when backpacking. Now I wouldn't do without it - especially for leave-no-trace in the woods.

Here is video from Hauiart showing how to make your own table. No English subtitles but it is easy to follow.

I made one out of an arrow shaft and a plastic cutting board. Drilled a hole just big enough for a #8 bolt to go through the cutting board and screw into the end of the arrow shaft that the point screws into. I removed the fletchings and just shove the nock end of the shaft into the ground. I found the arrow shaft to be too tall and fexible so I replaced it with a crossbow bolt shaft. Here's a picture of the table with the arrow shaft.

It works great next to the hammock and next to my backpacking chair. Seeing the table that Shug has inspired me to make one. Cost was ~ $7 from Walmart for the shaft and cutting board (add another $5 for replacing the arrow shaft with the crossbow bolt shaft). I already had a #8 bolt.

The arrow shaft was too long for me to carry well with my backpack and the crossbow shaft fits nicely inside my pack right next to the frame. I will probably replace the nock with an arrow field point in the near future.

Great idea, Clyde. Question: how much does it weigh?

Just weighed it on my kitchen scale. 11oz. The crossbow shaft & #8 bolt was 7/8 oz. and the cutting board was 10 1/8 oz. Wal-Mart had smaller/lighter cutting boards. I just picked a cheap one (under $2) that looked like a good size as a side table. Plus this had a small lip around the edge of the board that would help keep things from rolling/sliding off it.

Weight wasn't an issue for me as before making this I would often bring a small folding table similar to this one from Wal-Mart. But this was too big and bulky and with the soft top, you had to use the cup holders or risk spilling your drink and my coffee cup didn't work with the cup holders.

Edit: Note - I have thought about replacing the cutting board with something that would look nicer. Such as a piece of stained plywood or something.

I've a set of walking/hiking poles that have a screw thread in the top of the handle, I think they are intended for use as a camera mount/monopod. Shouldn't be too hard to find a small metal plate, drill a hole in the middle and mount it on top of the pole.

You can go into Settings and ask it to give English subtitles -- they're kind of amusing, but they do give some details of measurements that are not shown on the screen

I use a snowline cube table. It fits nicely beside my hammock and with an aluminum top I do not worry about using a stove on it. It's not something that I would take backpacking, but it goes on all of my car camping trips.
