    Trail Lair questions

Slept 4 nights in my new trail lair and its gone... Ok. Worth mentioning that my hammocks have been 90 degree style and bridge. This is the first GE that I've attempted. It's possible the style just doesn't work for me, but I'm determined to give it a shot.

When it arrived, the net was super tight, but the hammock was very comfortable. First night out, I slept the best, and had high hopes. After some quick emailing with Jared, we determined the RL was too long at 112". He was thinking it was putting undue stress on the net. I put on an adjustable and started playing. Currently, at 108"

The hammock is comfortable, but really snug. My head is pretty much slammed against the net sleeping head Left, feet right. It's 11', Hexon 1.6. Whatever stock width is. I wonder if I need a wider hammock? I'm 6'1", 200#. What other tweaking can I do? It seems long enough, just not wide enough. Maybe it is what it is? Maybe, GE isn't for me? I'm not going too far down this rabbit hole, so would like to try to make this work..

Sleeping in a hammock is like wearing a suit. They don't all fit the same. Sometimes you need a tailor.
That is a high looking ridgeline.

It was amazing how much higher the Ridgeline got the shorter it got. Yeah. Basic for some of you folks. Something to tweak.
    Thanks

I'm 5'6" and prefer a 64" wide hammock. Standard 58" wide just aren't comfortable for me for more than a short use.

I've had and enjoyed my trail lair for a while now and I'm especially a fan of the increased field of view and head room in it. That said I would agree the ridge line does look pretty high in comparison to mine. Have you tried taking the net off an letting that ridgeline out? I don't have a 90* hammock and have only spent 1 night in a bridge (could not get comfortable enough to sleep) but the GE will take some more wiggling around to find the sweet spot than you're accustomed to as well.

If using it without the net is comfortable, I'd lay that net out and start measuring and confirm with Jared the net is the right size. Though in looking at a photo of mine it might not be too different.

The wide hexon works way better for me and I’m only 5’10”. The extra fabric I just tie out at my shoulder and feet. The bugnet looks a bit short on your hammock.

Just looking at the photo, I wouldn't be comfortable in that hammock either.

I fiddled with the RL again. Trying different lengths, and the hammock feels best to me with it at the original 112". Also, plugged numbers into the hang calculator, and was surprised how high it put the straps up the trees. That's helped too. Also, seemed to lessen the pull on the net. I think I just need to fiddle more.

I do consistently put the straps higher for the trail lair than my wife's El Dorado, we nearly always hang side by side. I always chalked it up to the additional headspace compared to the WB so it just made sense when hanging them side by side.
