I can't quite picture it. I was thinking with the non-eye end buried in the non-eye end, but I'd end up with basically a small loop at the center, instead of a clean X.

I still can't quite picture how I'd brummel lock the two Ls.

Forgive the bad estimates of how long I needed things. I realize this is just 3 but adding a 4th should be pretty straightforward. Hopefully this helps.

But now I'm thinking i just make four dogbones, with the loop made passing through the two adjacent dogbones. Not as clean aesthetically as what I was looking for, but probably the easiest.
Hold the two loops of the first dogbones together as if they are one hole, and larkshead to the two loops of the other dogbones. There is an elegant way to larkshead each to the previous one in a square weave, but not really necessary in this case.

    Makes sense. Thanks.

Thanks for doing that. I appreciate it. Looks doable.

What about using continuous loops instead of do my bones. You could have one central ring and the rest attached to it.

Different aesthetic. Also, I'd have to make it big enough that the bury from the CL didn't overlap with those of the tails.

I was thinking of using two dog bones.
Fold one dog bone in half and form a larks head in bight in middle.
To keep that larks head from collapsing into nothingness, insert thumb into larkshead.
Now dog bone is larks headed around thumb with two equal legs coming from larkshead.
Now fold second dog bone in half and using the bight in middle, insert that bight into first larks head that is on your thumb. This bight will go through first larks head at same place your thumb is.
Now insert both ends of second dog bone through bight thus forming interlinked larks heads.
This is easy to take back apart.
