How to tell apart Economy and Premium Hammock Gear underquilts?

I bought a 20º Premium Phoenix HG Underquilt used.

However, when I weighed it, it came in closer to the spec weight of the Economy UQ than the Premium UQ.

I am obviously cautious to accuse the guy of selling me the wrong item, so is there any other visual tell to whether a quilt is premium or economy? My caution is heightened by https://sectionhiker.com/hammock-gea...rquilt-review/, which mentions a similar underquilt being 2oz above spec. Honesty, if I had to bet, it IS the right quilt, but I’m not going to potentially waste a lot of money on a bet.

The full specs of the quilt I bought are: 20ºf ¾ Length Phoenix underquilt from Hammock Gear, 1oz overstuff and black inner and outer fabric.
The weight comes in at 18.4 ounces with the stuff sack. HammockGear lists that same premium quilt as weighing 16.69 ounces, but the economy version’s spec weight is 18.6 ounces.

    Thank y’all so much!

I don't know how much use it's seen but it could just be dirty and need a good wash and fluff dry. Admittedly topquilts are more prone to get nasty than underquilts-especially 20 degree ones (less likely to get all sweaty) but that's an option. If you have the original owner's name, perhaps you could contact HG and they could look up the order and let you know. Obviously, the ECON quilts have the Econ tag but if a seller were indeed nefarious then I imagine it would be easy to tear off.

The fabric will tell the tale. If you're familiar with them, there's a very noticeable difference between the 0.67osy 10D fabric the premium quilts are made from and the 1.1osy 20D fabric the Econ quilts are made from.

In the spec sheets, the 20° econ vs premium has about a half ounce difference in fill weight, but a 2 ounce difference in total weight. The premium fabric makes up the majority of the reduced weight (and better compressibility!).

It might also depend on how old the quilt is. I know that HG has switched up the materials used occasionally over the years, though I'll admit since I haven't needed a new quilt in a while I haven't paid much attention to when the last time was that they did anything like that. I have a handful of their quilts, and I'd be willing to wager that none of them would match up exactly with the posted specs as of current day, since they were all ordered over the past however many years.

All my Econ quilts say Econ on them. That line is only like 3 years old I believe. I assume anything older wouldn't have a label because they were all premium then. Someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong on this.

Is there a ripstop pattern in the outer shell?

Listed weights would be without the stuff sack.

    Thanks everyone!

Based on everything listed here, I believe my suspicions that this was in fact the correct item are justified. There’s just a million ways those little ounces would differ from the stated weight.

And yes, countrybois, this does have a rip stop pattern on both the inside and outside!

The econ fabric does NOT have a ripstop grid pattern.
