    "Schmetz Microtex Sharp Machine Needles are for microfibers, polyester, silk, foils, artificial leather, coated materials" (from an advertisement for Schmetz 7010 needles)

    the Schmetz microtex brand is on many types of needles. the 7010 are recommended for fine poly and nylon ripstop fabrics

    My last couple of hammocks I tried using a double needle. Worked great. Even line with no zig zag and half the time.

    Thanks for the advice. I went ahead and did a whipped end with a regular straight stitch.

    I've only used chain stitch for knit fabrics, or like you mentioned for an easy to rip out stitch. It does have more stretch to the stitch.
