    Trail Lair fabrics

I'm considering a Trail Lair and spinning wheels on fabric options. My current go-to hammocks are an AH (1.9 ripstop from RSBTR's clearance sale) and a Dutch Hexon wide netless.

I like the feel of both, and I know the TL is available in Hexon, but I'm open to trying something new. How does the 70D XL compare to Hexon? I know it's 1.9, so imagine there's little stretch to it, and going by weight, there probably isn't a big difference between 1.6 and 1.9. However, what is the finish of the 70D like? Is it smooth or somewhat textured like Hexon?

I just picked up a TL that is double layer 1.7 MTN. I'm very pleased with the fabric. It is textured and reminds me of the 2.2 Hex70 my DH Sparrow is made of, but I actually prefer the MTN 1.7. I know you didn't ask about this particular fabric, but like usual I threw in my .02.

The 70D XL is a simple, generic ripstop. Nothing fancy, but very comfortable. The touch is closer to the 1.9oz ripstop nylon RbtR sells than to Hexon. But it is wide! It will be my choice when I order a Trail Lair for sure.

Thanks for the reply. As I said, I have one of the AH netless hammocks from their fire sale, which is their 1.9 ripstop. At least that gives me some basis of comparison.

    Trail Lair fabrics

does anyone happen to have a hammock in the foliage grey 70d XL? I can't find any photos online of it to see what shade of grey that is. Is it similar to the charcoal of gray Hexon, or lighter in color?

Not that fabric exactly, but I have a number of other different fabrics in the "foliage" color, and they are reasonably consistent though not exactly the same. I think my most dissimilar foliage colored fabrics are shown here. I took a photo in the kitchen under "bright white" 3000K LED lighting, with a white card in the frame (cropped) to assist auto white balance. Hopefully it's reasonably color correct for viewing on your end. Upper left is charcoal gray 1.6 Hexon, upper right is foliage 1.6 Hyper D, and the backdrop is foliage 1.2 MTN XL (formerly called Robic, and now replaced by 1.3 MTN XL). The 1.2 MTN XL version is darker than the others, but IMO it has a greener hue in real life than the photo shows.

I just got the Trail Lair from Jared Custom about 10 days ago. I got my in 11ft, in the 1.6 HyperD XL, I find it very similar in feeling and stretch to those cheap 20-30$ parachute hammocks, softer feel. I'll put it this way my mother loved how it felt xD

Could someone please identify for me with the fabric of my trail lair??? It was made from a 1.3 oz and fabric in black, l haven't found out much more than what's written. However l have bonded nicly with the combo fabric and trail lair, smooth to the touch, possibly a little firmer than a 1.6 Hexon, relatively light as far as the weight.

The fabric grid pattern looks to be made up from squares. Thanks... Happy days!

I have a Streamliner made from that nondescript black 1.3 ripstop and it is one of my favorite of about 9 different hammock fabrics I own or have owned. I can't tell you much more about it, but I'm guessing it's a rather generic fabric that Jared gets a good deal on. He doesn't carry it in any other colors, and it's not listed for sale by Dutchware or RipstopByTheRoll - the two of which are where most of his other listed fabrics are sourced from. You could always shoot him an email and ask if he can provide you more info, or maybe even sell you a few yards, if that's what you're looking for.

Well! Yes indeed it is truly very nice fabric... and at one point l had been throwing about ideas in trying out this mysterious black fabric onto another cottage venders hammock... l kinda feel the fabric owns itself at sld through Jared's mastery... thanks again cmc4free for sharing out on the leaks with the mystery black 1.3
