Amsteel Blue / marlow D12 prusik loop

Will a prusik loop made of amsteel blue/marlow d12 work on an amsteel blue/marlow d12 line (note both the loop and line will be 2.5mm and made of the same rope)?

    Yes and No
    Depends on its use
For hammock suspension, amsteel on amsteel prusik will slide, fail to hold in place, and burn or blacken your amsteel from friction caused heat. This will weaken your amsteel and you will probably have to buy more amsteel.

For tarp ridgelines, you might have success with amsteel on amsteel prusiks, especially if extra wraps are used, maybe five or six wraps yielding ten or twelve coils. Also your prusik will need to be hand tightened before use
    to reduce chances of slipping.

To further increase chances of your prusik holding its own, a prusik made with Zingit, being smaller diameter than
your amsteel will grip better than same size amsteel.

    Your mileage may vary YMMV
    Good luck!

I use Marlow 1.8mm dyneema throw line for my tarp ridgeline and prusiks made of the same stuff works well with 4 wraps

If you want to use amsteel hammock suspension and amsteel continuous loop. Regardless
of your reason—amsteel is strong, durable, and light weight, along with packing compactly.
Or another reason—it’s what you got, so I might as well use it, rather than buying more
    supplies.
You might want to consider marlin spike hitch, and also the immortal J-Bend. Shug has several
videos demonstrating marlin spike hitch. And TheGuyWithEyeBrows has made several videos
    demonstrating his creation the J-Bend!
Neither one of these two will ever slip.
And they are both jam resistant.
    What more can you ask4?!?!!!
As an added bonus they are both easy2tie!!!

Dyneema/amsteel has a low melting point and is quite slippery, so it's not the best choice for a planned use prusick loop, which is relying on the friction generated being enough to support a load or resist a pulling force.

The klemheist Knot may work better than doing 4+classic wraps, but it requires more tending to keep it wrapped neatly when it's not loaded.

A ~2mm cord with a UHMWPE core and nylon or polyester braid would be a reasonable option.

I experimented with klemheist, prusik, and icicle hitch on CRL. The prusik seemed to put a good kink in the line that really helps it grip. I thought I'd need smaller diameter line on my 1.8mm CRL but with 4 wraps it's fine in 25kt winds so I won't bother. The 12 strand dyneema throw line holds it's form well too so the prusiks don't seem to need re-dressing all the time. If any gripping knot slips much when tight then you're going to melt the dyneema of your CRL and it becomes more slippy even with a polyester braid line for your prusik or klemheist or icicle hitch
