    Cheap underquilt

I never really used a GE hammock when I started with hammocks. I've been using a 90 degree or bridge hammock for 5 years or so, but lets say I'm GE curious. Since I doubt I'll like it as much as I like my 90 Degree, I'm also cheap. And, I'm a bit of a high maintenance sleeper. It's gotta work, and be comfortable. I can't fuss with a pad moving around the place.

Enter the Ridge outdoors hammock, which arrived on my doorstep $49 later, and its really comfortable. Now, the insulation piece. Yep, a pad sucks in a gathered end hammock. I'm looking for the, uhh, Ridge Outdoors, version of an underquilt. Cheap, yet high enough quality to feel like it "works". It's clear where the corners were cut on the Ridge to keep it at the pricepoint, but it seems like the basics are there. I need that in an UQ if it exists. Does it? Of course, if I feel like I can make the investment in a better set up down the line, I'd have no problem laying down the big bucks for the good stuff.

    Thanks

Assuming you're not interested in making your own, I'll suggest my favorite: the Arrowhead Jarbidge. For $100 you can get either the 45 degree or the 25 degree version. It's not cheap, but it is inexpensive and high quality: https://www.arrowhead-equipment.com/...nderquilt.html
My Jarbidge also fits very well on my bridge hammock, so there's that consideration. If all else fails, a used Jarbidge would probably sell pretty quickly here on the forums.

Otherwise, DIY underquilts made from inexpensive sleeping bags will do the job. You can also DIY one from a poncho liner. I made one and it's good to about 60 degrees, maybe 55. Cost was less than $30 for that one. Threads on how to make such can be found with some diligent searching here.
    "...the height of hammock snobbery!"

I DIY'd one from a sleeping bag by sewing 1.75" folded grosgrain ribbon to the inside of the zipper. One on each side. Threaded shock cordage to s-biners and done. It still works as a sleeping bag id needed. Cost ~$10+ bag. Took about 2 hours to make.

DIY the CDT underquilt. they're definitely in the good enough range for summer hanging, and depending on how adventurous you are, you can double up, or mod 2 into 1 to make it easily a 3 season

If you're not backpacking, Walmart sells a synthetic camping quilt that can be DIY'd into an underquilt very easily. It's about the size of a Costco Down quilt and runs about $18. Hand sew an edge all around, leaving corners open to add suspension. I've used one in a winter camping situation by adding a second one inside. They're really warm.

So, I bit the bullet and ordered a trailwinder from simply light designs. I'll be taking this new rig on a 4 night Moto trip, so we'll see how it goes and whether it's up for sale next week. Hahaha

I was looking at Costco yesterday for their down quilt but didnt see it (probably a bad time if year to look).
Does it have a specific model or is it just something generic like "Kirkland down comforter"? I need a cheap 2nd setup and these are good ideas

As far as I can tell it's the Blue Ridge ACTIV Packable Down Throw.

You can order them online at Costco. Just do a search for Down Throw.
