Hey everyone! I'm a new hammock camper from Alabama currently living in Charlotte, NC. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, I had only done the occasional car camping with friends (and tents). Being stuck inside made me realize how much I wanted to really get out there, so I started doing some casual research about how I wanted to do it. Thanks to folks like sintax77, Shug, and communities like this one, I settled on hammock camping. I ordered a Dutchware Chameleon, cobbled together some gear handed down by my grandad, and set off for my first solo overnight hike/camp at South Mountains State Park. I loved it. The solitude, the effort, the refuge of the hammock after a long day of miles - superb.

So now I'm joining the forum proper, and looking forward to sharing trip reports and more. Thanks for reading!
