Question Winter hanging in the Sierras near Toms Place, CA

I usually camp Rock Creek, Convict, East Fork, etc. This year I want to camp in the snow up there.

Snow + Camp fire = Happy!

Any ideas on a good location to hang. Never been there in the winter. And those location close up to traffic end of fall.

I know mammoth but to many people.

Plenty of places north of Mammoth. You might try June Lake loop (stunningly beautiful) or Lundy (just before Conway Summit) or Virginia Lakes (higher altitude heading up and west at the top of Conway Summit). At the south end of Lee Vining, you'll find the road that heads into Yosemite. There's plenty of spots along there, before you get up top and headed back down into Yosemite. I highly recommend the short hike to check out Bennettville, though I haven't been up there in years.

Deep snow can be a challenge in the colder months, but if you don't mind doing some snowshoeing or cross country skiing, you can get some amazing winter camping in.
