    Peek at the Haven

Finally got a bit of video shot on the Haven. Taking it up for a 2 night trip tomorrow.
Gotten used to napping in it, now time to trail test it. Though I will use my DIY Blackcrow tarp and whoopie slings, Dutch biners and tree straps. Not a fan of the daisy chain suspension.

awesome video, as always. it really really reminds me of the draumr, when you first were showing that descending from space

I'd love to see how the haven behaves with different pads..... be curious is the regular fjol would fit in there nicely, or if that extra inch of width just is a no go, or if the vertical baffles didn't play nice, or what have you

but, like the draumr, you may have sold me another hammock

I think like the Draumr....it is very pad specific. I tried another pad in Haven and it did not feel good. Need the side to side baffles for sure like the Draumr need longitudinal baffles. They do plan to try and make a wider model in time.
Not as comfortable as the Draumr but much easier to get in and out. Especially with the bugnet. Always find that a bit of a pain in the Draumr.

getting IN the draumr is the worst part of the experience for me. once in, its probably the best hammock experience out there (imo)

out I find ok too, but my 30 inch inseam does me no favors trying to get in the thing lol

Set up the Draumr I just picked up off the FS forum. Seems a lot more tippy than the Hammocktent 90 degrees. But I do like the ability to adjust the torso and legs with the pulls. We will see how it goes as a nightly sleeper. I've become so accustomed to the GE Sparrow/Trail Lair that it might take some getting use to again. nice flat lay, both longitudinally and latitudinal was immediately noteworthy.

Here are a few brief impressions of the Haven Tent/Hammock:

    • Easy to set up and get into and out of (twice I got into a Draumr too far back of the balance point and ended up on my back with my legs sticking up in the air; not fun at 3 AM; other times I have slid onto my butt and catapulted the hammock contents out)
    • Can't use it as chair with back support when you sit sideways in it
    • Flat lay, very comfortable
    • Very narrow. No shoulder squeeze, but your elbows are pressed against the cords sewn into the sides; needs to be at least a standard pad's width
    • Pretty heavy; an ultralight version would be welcome
    • Nice insulated inflatable pad, don't need an underquilt
    • Integrated tarp means you can't set up/take down the hammock in the rain under the tarp. Otherwise it's effective at keeping you dry
    • Ground stakes (4) are light but flimsy; bent one the first time I pushed it into soft ground with my heel
    • Ground stakes are hexagonal, they have a tendency to rotate when the cord is tugged on which pops the cord off
    • I like the number of pockets built into it, but if you load the convenient pocket at your head end, you'll be smacking your head into it quite often
    • I like the ridgeline not being a round cord. My ridgeline organizer (I also have a Kammok Mantis with accessories) clips on nicely and doesn't slide around or bunch up.

I'm interested to see a shot of someone side sleeping in this as well. I'm even more interested to see someone in the new XL version.

I've got an XL, only slept in it twice, once overnight (most of it anyway) and once for a nap. I'm not much of a side sleeper but it's definitely doable in there.
    Good luck,
