Snakeskins using tights / stockings / pantyhose?

Hi ladies, has anyone tried using old stockings or tights (pantyhose) as tarp snakeskins? I'm wondering if it might be a good low cost solution but not sure they'd stretch far enough or be robust enough. Being male I lack experience in these matters so I'm asking the experts 😀

Thanks for the pointer. My searching didn't turn that up. The idea of rocking up with fishnets for snakeskins appeals to my sense of humour but it all sounds a bit fragile. Cheers Anyway.

Your getting a little weird on us, Andy. I shudder to think of what other ladies undergarments you might consider using to store your trail gear!

I just use a loop of shock cord. Works great, costs nothing and is much lighter then snakeskins.

Ha ha a nice Miss Mary stuff sack? Seriously though, I'll use anything if it works well. In this case though it seems that it won't.

Now why didn't I think of that!? I'm going to give that a try, thank you!

Just tried this and it works brilliantly. I got carried away and went for TWO loops so I can snuff each end one at a time. I think my legs are strong enough to carry that frivolous extra mass. No unsightly bundle of hosiery on my tarp line and a couple of handy shock cord loops for dangling things from. Thank you SLG45, you've made my day!

When I first started hammocking, this was one of my great ideas. Just use a loop of shock cord! However, I found it to be a frustrating waste of time. Roll up the tarp, then reach into your pocket to get the shock cord - which can take a while to find. I even tried putting the shock cord loops on my wrist, but inevitably, the shock cord would end up on the ground, and then I'd have to reach down to pick it up, and the tarp would unroll. Start all over again. Repeat multiple times.

    Snake skins are infinitely easier.
