Whoopies and straps from Dutch

Kevlar webbing from tree to CL, tied with slipped Lapp Hitch. Doesn't get any simpler.

becket straps round tree with biners, becket hitch connecting to universal loops(Jeff Myers type) on hammock, seems to work very well and nice and quick to Deploy and strike camp

I like the spider-poly web and beetle buckles from dutchware. They’re so easy to use and not very heavy. I skip any other hardware and just use the loop.

For kids and people I worry may be abusive, I like daisy chain with carabiner.

I use 4' or 5' spider tree huggers and 6' 7/64ths amsteel whoopies with Dutch whoopie hooks on them. The spiders curl/fold over on themselves a lot and it's kind of annoying, but the light weight is good.

For that length, 3.3 Kevlar would work fine as huggers with very little weight penalty, and they don't curl up like the various UHMWPE webbing materials.

I got some overly heave Eno AtlasXL straps which are quite easy, but also much bigger than I need. I think some whoopee slings are in my future!

My original setup was Beetle Buckles on Dutch Spider/Poly straps, because my first hammock was a Chameleon, and these were optional with it. I still use it some, but from the get go, I was keen to try all the things.

Recently, I’ve been trying Myers-style hardware free soft link, using an Amsteel prussic that rides tree straps and links to Evo loops installed in gathered ends. Finish with a Beckett.

It’s not better than Beetle Buckles, which are cleaner and simpler, but it is better, because I wanted to get my family hanging, and so I needed a few more suspensions, and it only costs me time to make (instead of $$) and a few 28” lengths of Amsteel.

For my WBRR I use the polyester webbing, (with carabiners) and cinch buckles that were supplied with the hammock.

For my gathered end hammock I use 6 ft. polyester tree straps, (with carabiners), 8 ft' lengths of amsteel with a fixed loop on one end, and a turtle tie at each end of the hammock.

Black are you using "tree straps" or "tree huggers"?
