    Great thread.
I currently use 8’ tree straps & have been tempted to shorten them on more than 1 occasion since I also carry whoopie slings. I haven’t because I have that little voice telling me that next time I may need that annoying extra length. The 12’ & 15’ lengths seem to be overkill for me.
The extensions are a great idea but I’m still carrying ‘X’ amount of footage whether in 1 piece or 2. It’s easy enough to tie up.

Similar hiking locales to OP and 10' to 12' has always been plenty. I carry a 3' dogbone but rarely use it.

    Suspension Strap Length

Out here in California we have large diameter Pine, Redwood & Oak. I use 15 footers and sometimes just squeak by.
If you don’t like or are concerned with your excess strap touching the ground, you can always use this made in pairs. https://simplylightdesigns.com/colle...elcro-one-wrap

Whichever ones you get, make an amsteel dogbone for those times you need a little extra. My trees here on the West Coast of Canada are massive and there have been times a 15' is too short so I carry a 2' and a 4' dogbone just in case. I try for smaller trees, just depends on where we stop.

Typical tree in the PNW (Oregon, Washington, Canada).

As for other locations, …”You call that a tree. This is a tree.”

Okay, some other countries have trees too. This is in Belize.
I should have brought my longer tree straps

In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

I have 12'ers and rarely come close to using all of them. I should probably go down to an 8 or 10', but always like having more than I need since I am on generally short-medium hike ins.
