I believe I will be making the marinade pork and beef chunks with dinner rolls Friday night because it seems like there is always too much food wasted on Saturday. I plan on bringing basic eggs and breakfast meat for the mornings. If someone would like me to do their stuff on my griddle I would be more than happy to oblige.

Thank you Shug. Your shortbread is absolutely delicious. Hopefully I'll get to enjoy some with my morning coffee.

Shug, if Hickery eats all your shortbread, he can blame it on the mailman. Your shortbread is that good.
Your hammock paintings are a must for every hammock household, worthy of framing, wonderful art they are!

Shug we cant thank you enough for your heartfelt help with our hang.
    You Are Yates!

I was recommended to look into this forum as I live in NC and have been looking for more excuses to go hang in the woods. Is this an “open” event? Is there some membership or registration or fees or anything required? Better still, if there is a general event information page/site, please advise.

...Sorry for all the noob questions...

Phantom Grappler is our illustrious event host and becoming quite legendary in Uwharrie.
I, like you, was a noob a few years ago and found this hang. What a great group of people to be in the woods with. Great stories and laughs. And the hammock knowledge in this group is awesome.
A few logistics for a first timer:
    1. No water on site, you'll need to bring your own.
    2. Pit toilet on site.
    I expect you'll have a great time.
A day camping in the rain is better than a good day at work,

WingnutNC, Yates Hang is open to all
There is no registration or official membership
    There are no fees
There is no raffle to defray costs

We have survived by voluntary donations to cover cost of firewood and this year we are encouraging our campers to “tip” their cooks. Some of our Old Pros have gone to great expense to cook some group meals.

Bring some of your own food, because not all meals are cooked by others, and there is always the chance, you might not want to eat what is being cooked.

Saturday breakfast is usually cooked by our Old Pros
Saturday lunch I will offer fixins for make your own sandwiches, known as AirLand&Sea sandwiches. Make your own sandwiches according to your tastes. And either heat your sandwich in your own frying pan or aluminum foil or skip that step and chow down.

Saturday supper is Pot Luck Surprise
Sorry for ambiguity. This allows each camper to offer their own creations or not, without following any particular food theme.
Food safety is a must. We don’t want anyone to get sick or experience stomach distress.

    Bring all your own water
    Bring your camp chair
There is one vault toilet in a small building
Ok to consume a small amount of adult beverage, not ok to get drunk

One of our favorite features is Knock Knock Joke Contest by young and old alike. Only kids will win prizes on this contest. Brush up on your Knock Knock Jokes.

Men: no limericks until after dark, Ladies haiku is optional...

Had to swear that I wouldn't go any deeper in the shortbread shipment that didn't have Hickery written on it with a sharpie pen. I'd just blame it on the maple king !

We've been in contact with forestry to have a chopper on standby in case a drop is needed for the Purdy boil contest. PBS is sending a camera crew.

No worries here, Hickery, God will give us a rain bath, designed in the Heavens to douse any flames, when I smoke you in “Purdy Boil”
An early “Early” weather forecast is for very warm temperatures and possibility of rain on Thursday. Forecast can and will change slightly as we near time change weekend.
Hickery, please bring Son of Blue tarp
Peeeeetey, please bring your Monster Blue tarp
Hammock campers, please bring pop up canopies as prescribed by some rain

I have to remember to bring my Fronkey bugnet, due to very mild temperatures—mosquitoes might fly in for chow
    Also rain gear

Now the fun begins...IF rain is forecasted as we get closer in time—
I enjoy being entertained with excuses fair weather hammock campers use when letting us know they are skipping out.
“I have to take my ferret to the vet”
“Funny noises from under my car’s hood”
“Second wife’s third cousin is having a bake sale at their church”
“I had time change weekend on my calendar for second weekend of November”

    All grand entertainment!
