I have the older and new XLCs and a Wide Chameleon. Once i got the Chameleon, i found the extra width super comfortable and easier to find a sweet spot. But then one weekend i decided to pull out the XLC for shitz and giggles. **** ! I forgot how comfortable it was and because i had a lot more exprience,i had learned how to find the proper hang rather fast. I think i slept a solid 9 or ten hours straight (Ive done 11 hours in the Chameleon) and it was just as comfortable as my Wide. AND, i really forgot how convenient and useful that shelf is. I have a 0* Incubator and use it all year. In these summer months, i just leave the ends open to let the heat out and in the fall and winter, just close them up.

An under-quilt makes a huge difference when it's chilly at night. I have the XLC as well and I love it. Thanks to finding this forum I skipped the sleeping pad phase of development and went straight to the UQ. Can't imagine having to fuss with that pad trying to get it right. Happy hammocking!

I put the sleeping pad INSIDE my kids sleeping bags and that way i dont have to worry about them wiggling off it in the night.
