I can't agree on the overthinking part. It's the best piece of gear I have. Simply a Phoenix with a longer foot section so I don't have to use a foot pad. I like saving the weight and space when I don't need my full length for colder weather (20 and 0 quilts)

You can ask the whole HF community about quilt length, but I would think the cottage vendors who make quilts will know more about it than somebody like me who owns just six quilts.
I can see why you think that but that's not what I'm getting at and certainly not what I meant.

Perhaps a better way of asking the question is: If you were making your own full length underquilt, how much extra length would you build in?

A bit of a thread resurrection.

I eventually went for the Cumulus Selva 250 3/4 length - it arrived today a month after ordering, obviously I got the wrong end of the current delivery variability. I happened to notice this about the length on their site: ¾ of the hammock length is insulated. Not sure why they see this as 3/4 but it possibly explains why their "short" underquilts are so long.

First test lay using it and it extends from the top of my neck to beyond my toes so I suppose it's somewhere between a 7/8ths and a full length? Dunno, no idea! Not too bothered about my head being over uninsulated material as I'll probably use a fleece jacket as a pillow anyway so it's no big deal. Not mentioned in the features is that both ends have baffles for draught exclusion.

I'll probably take a few uses to get things dialled in and set up right.
