    Hello from England

Hi folks, maybe the "hello" should be " 'ow do" since I live in the north of England just outside one of our national parks - The Yorkshire Dales. Actual, real, name is Bob. A long time outdoorsey person, for thirty years my main outdoor sport was rock climbing and mountaineering. I've also ten years of fell running (mountain running) and five years or so of bikepacking which is my main focus these days. Behind all that I've been walking in the hills most of my life - I grew up in another of our national parks, The Lake District, so had no excuse not to get outside.

I've been lurking and reading through the forums for a few months - I've even read all that 100+ page thread on whoopie slings - I think that marks me as OCD! Also watched lots of Shug's videos.

Just getting into hammocks and hammocking. So far it's just been among the fruit trees in the garden, the recent heat wave in the UK helped, until my wife commandeered the hammock as it was so comfortable! There's now a length of material just arrived this morning waiting to be hemmed and sewn into another hammock - to be fair the commercial one was a little bit short for me. I've also been making Amsteel continuous loops, dog bones and whoopie slings in preparation.

Eyup Bob, Yorkshire born and Bred here! Welcome, hammock forums is great and the Americans have provided me with such a lot of help and inspiration I'm sure you'll find that out for yourself. I'm living in Nottinghamshire at moment and Sherwood forest is my playground. Happy to help if you want to know anything.

Around here it would be Howdy Bob ;-) Welcome to HF. Seems you have spent quite a bit of time in some quality territory.

    Cheers guys.

Yep, been lucky in where I've lived - either in or on the edge of national parks all my life. Even luckier during the current palaver in that we are rural so can step out of the door and go for a walk and maybe meet just one or two people.

Like I said, I've been lurking here a while so thought I'd poke my head above the tarp line
