That looks like a very interesting excursion for sure. Bit of urban meets the brown water.
Musta been fun seeing all the bridges and other water features.
Did you have a soggy bottom a lot or does the tuckus stay pretty dry paddling all day?

I totally gave up on working around the schedules of others. Not that I don't do group outings, but I can't afford to wait around if there's something I want to do. Especially this trip. I have a hard enough time to set up something here in town for an easy 2-hr kayak float.
It was a nice mix for sure! 2 days of undeveloped/farm land with big trees, then slightly urban, then the city. I was 100% dry until the afternoon of day 4 when I hit the first set of rapids. Then day 5 in the morning was wet after 7 miles of on and off rapids. I had a spray skirt that would have kept the water out, but at 90° and sunny there's just no way. The cool water felt good. The old bridges were cool, lots of old supports left standing, some from old railroads. And bridges were the only source of shade on day 5...a brutal day. Had a good long, and loud, break under I80/90 Ohio Turnpike.
Thanks for sharing Great video and loved the recap write up/pics

"The older I get, the more I appreciate my rural childhood. I spent a lot of time outdoors, unsupervised, which is a blessing." Barbara Kingsolver
Anyone know what kind of birds those are at 48:09? I took a break in that area and a CO was there. He told me the name as some flew over but I forget. Similar to a duck but sit lower in the water.
Great video, btw!
Man, dont use topquilt on kayak, it might get wet !
Wonderful Video Mark!!
Thanks for sharing....
Look like cormorants to me, fish eating goose size waterfowl. See them all the time larger watersheds and lakes.
Great job pushing through on a physically tough adventure, certainly is one way to lose weight.
Talk to you about your trip next time you're in camp.

Nice video, and an amazing trip. I know you said you'd never do it again but I suspect you're glad you did it. An adventure you won't forget, that's for sure. Thanks for bringing us along.
How did your filter fare with the dirty river water afterward? Did you have to back- flush a lot? Did the carbon filter clean up the taste well enough?

"I fish because I love to; because I love the environs where trout are found, which are invariably beautiful... because, in a world where most men seem to spend their lives doing things they hate, my fishing is at once an endless source of delight and an act of small rebellion; because trout do not lie or cheat and cannot be bought or bribed or impressed by power, but respond only to quietude and humility and endless patience...." --Robert Traver
