    Hello From Georgia

Hi everyone. I look forward to the amazing advice I'll get from seasoned hangers in this forum.

I love being in nature and far from crowds and spending the night in the woods. Despite all of this, my sleep in a tent can best be described as horrible, despite a nice inflatable pad and pillow. I toss and turn on the hard ground all night, get little sleep, and have a hard time waking up at a decent hour.

When my lightweight backpacking tent bit the bullet, I thought "What do I have to lose?" I just received my first hammock in the mail today. It's a Hennessey Expedition Asym Zip. It's up now and I'm looking forward to spending the night in it tonight.

Good luck from a fellow Georgian! Please note that the learning curve with a hammock is much higher than a tent so please give it a bit and realize that you will have to do some "fiddling" to get it right. A great way to flatten that curve, if you haven't already done so, is check out fellow HF member Shug Emery's videos on "Hammocks for Noobs". Watch them several times both before and after your try backyard hanging then rewatch them again next time you try to hang in the backyard. Have fun!

Thanks Clisbyclark I found and watched many of Shug's videos on youtube before making the plunge. Did the backyard hang, definitely understand why sleeping pads are a no-go, and just ordered my UQ.

Welcome sir! I’m a fellow Georgian too. Good to have you on board. It seems like a lot of people stumble across Shug when they go down the hammock rabbit hole. His videos are top notch, entertaining & informational!

Hello and welcome from another Georgian. My advice is the same as already given by the previous folks. Again, welcome.

Hello fellow Georgian! Welcome to a great community with tons of knowledge.
It’s starting to look like we need to plan a plan a fall hang in our area.
