    2QZQ Pole Mod Pictures

My MacCat Deluxe had the pleasure of being 2Q & ZQ's at www.2qzqhammockhanger.com/ guinea pig tarp on installing pole pockets. While they had it I had them install doors on each end too (I thought about entitling this post “pimp my tarp”). I got it back and it is awesome!

The weather here has been bad and I finally got to set it up and snap some pictures.

I also ordered pole sections from http://www.questoutfitters.com/tent_poles.htm

    Here’s what I ordered:
    Poles with inserts #4080 x 5 x 2.95 $14.75
    Poles without inserts #4081 x 1 x 2.25 $ 2.25
    Pole tips #4030 x 2 x 1.55 $ 3.10
    3/32 shockcord #2402 x 3 x .32 $ .96
    Total $21.06

The assembled pole weighs 3.80 oz

    Here are some pics:

This is my first attempt at inserting the pole. It is obviously too long.

This is after trimming the pole. For my tarp, a pole 98.5 inches seems to be the right size.

Pole pocket by ZQ. A thing of beauty.

I am VERY pleased with this set-up! Can't wait to get out and try it.

I'll get some pictures with the doors and use and my Blackbird set-up with it too.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Heh...I noticed...and deleted my "where are the pictures" post. Nice looking tarp mods.

I'm right on the cusp of ordering Grizz Beaks for my MacCat Deluxe. I love all the goodies, but also recognize the weight and bulk penalty of adding all that fun optional stuff. Grizz Beaks would seem to give me the option of taking one or both depending on the weather forecast and my tolerance for "risk".

That is sweet PS. Makes for a very spacious area. Is there a loop at the top near the ridgeline to hold the pole in place or is it just held there by its own tension? Thanks for the review. This is another great addition to the 2Q/ZQ lineup.

    Hey SmokeBait,

Mine has a loop sewn in the ridgeline seam. Again, mine was the guinea pig.
2Q said he woke up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat, realizing it wouldn't work. To install the pole you have to put each end in it's respective pole pocket then raise it to it's upright position. No way to put it through the loop then each end in it's pocket.

Going forward 2Q & ZQ said they will sew in a piece of string to secure the pole in it's upright position. I merely tied a piece of cord to the loop and it works fine. Plus I have the loop to hang something from if needed...

I'll take a picture of mine and post. But again, future ones won't be like that.

2Q & ZQ may want to jump in here.
