    First hang in Tensa4

Arrived this afternoon and I couldn’t wait to set it up. Took me about 30 mins due to a bit of confusion on a couple of points, but not difficult at all - I figure once I’ve done this a few times probably more like 10 mins or so.

Now, I am a big guy 6’ 265 lbs and had no issues at all getting in etc. felt very stable. The hang was actually pretty good without having to get out and make adjustments etc. not sure what to do about the tarp if no trees around. Anyone have ideas?

I have not yet put a tarp on my tensa, but you should be able to just attach it to the ends of the stand. If not, maybe buy their tarp extensions?

Ah! I will have to look into the tarp extenders. I didn’t see them before!

If your tarp is 11’ or shorter, you should be able to tension it between the apexes, but there won’t be much headroom. Good for “storm mode.” If you want more headroom or have a longer tarp, our tarp extensions should do you.

You definitely need to invest in the tarp extensions. They are a game changer and super easy to set up!

I was a bit nervous to tie it off at the ends as I want to have the tarp taut. Won't cause any issues?

If it’s 11’ or shorter, shouldn’t be issues. Your body weight holds the apexes steady where they want to be, enough to tension the tarp. The tarp’s guylines themselves should suffice to keep it tight when you’re not in it. You can add a counterweight to the head end apex to tighten further.

If you’re in the hammock under tarp in high winds, you may enjoy that big gusts on the tarp translate to apex movement, dandling you in the storm and maybe serving as strain relief on the whole system, willow not oak.

I have the tarp extensions and they do work. But what works best for me are two rei aluminum tarp poles on each end to hang the tarp

Any pics? I just tried my 11' tarp and it is longer than my stand (as it sits now with the ridgeline). I can make it work, but not ideal.
