I'm also in the process of making this fabric choice and lack of ripstop is concerning me too. There are plenty on here that have these .9 tarps with good experience but only one person has posted that had damage that I can find. I'm thinking that in the field it's not so hard to patch a small hole or tear but it's much harder to repair a big rip. The 1.1 silpoly is ripstop so I'm leaning towards that now and taking the extra grams. It would be great to hear from others that have damaged their are .9 tarps.

Who was the manufacturer by the way?

On the surface it seems like the RSBTR membrane 0.9 product and the Dutch xenon 0.9 product are identical. Does anyone know if that's the case?

I made an 0.9 membrane asym a while back. It was well below 10 oz given its' design. I used it sparingly so can't say much about longevity. Ultimately, I sold it and all of my sil-poly tarps for DCF.
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

There's also a .7 silpoly fabric. I was looking at the paladin tarp from enlightened equipment. It's around 8 oz for a standard sized hex tarp.

I have the .77 MTN silnylon. I keep meaning to make a tarp out of it. It seems strong, and does have a grid. Definitely tougher then the .9 membrane. I have not tested it for stretch when wet, and additional weight when wet, since silnylon typically holds water.

That appears to be silnylon rather than silpoly? I can't find any .7 silpoly online.

Yes! My mistake. The paladin tarp is .7 silnylon.

That might be the ticket! Do you know the cost difference between the DCF fabric and the .77 silnylon?

    10oz tarp

I have a WL Tadpole purchased shortly (just a few months) before Marty passed away and they closed up. The fabric was simply advertised as "a new silpoly blend". Without any hardware (just grosgrain loops on the ridge and tie outs) it was about 9.8 ounces. I added d-rings on the ridge tie outs and have shock cord loops and nano cord on the guy outs and it's about 11 ounces with a HG mesh sleeve.

I have the same tarp as Sidney Hornblower but mine is rigged out a couple ounces heavier because of the lines I used most likely.Hammock Gear Quest is an awesome value in a tarp with regards to quality, weight, function, price etc.Mine is a 12 footer and I love it but would go with 11 feet if I did it again because sometimes I have trouble finding the two perfect trees that will work with a twelve when they would have worked with an eleven.
