Any opinions on modifying HH ridgeline?

Just got my Ultralite Explorer Zip model, and am waiting on Amsteel to show up so I can swap the suspension out. I was wondering if anyone else went to an adjustable ridgeline with their Hennessy. I threw a 3rd whoopie on my old ENO as an adjustable ridgeline, and loved it. The drawback was the occasional tangle from stuffing three whoopies back into the pouch. This would be less of an issue with the HH since the ridgeline is always separated from suspension by the integral bug net, plus using the snakeskins asopposed to just balling the whole mess up. I’m willing to bet the HH team did a great job with their ridgeline design, just wondering If anyone saw a benefit by changing to an adjustable one. Thanks guys!

I would be very careful if you try and make the replacement RL longer it could stretch and or damage the net. Shorter is fine.

Good point! That didn’t even cross my mind. I reckon I would not go shorter, I’m pretty tall. I think I’ll leave it as-is. Thanks.

Making the RL longer does not really make the hammock longer. Remember you are laying on an angle.
A shorter RL can with some hammocks make them much more comfortable.
To see if that helps your situation. Get a carabiner open the clip and make 6-8 wraps around the longest side.
Place it in the right spot and you can hang your light from it.

Good luck I hope this tip helps.

Going too short can also put tension on the netting and zipper. I shortened mine (deep jungle xl) about 4 inches though.
Learning how to tie a couple knots never killed nobody. First ones I ever learned were pretty hard but they've kept my shoes on me for the better part of 45 years.

I have changed the ridgelines on several HH's. The newer models have a much shorter ridgeline than the older ones.
I have made mine 15-17 centimeters longer than the stock ones. I haven't had any issues with the bugnet.
The longer ridgeline makes the hammock feel flatter and gives more support under my knees.

    Cheers
