Cougarmeat, couldn't agree with you more. My preference would be Lawson Glowire 2mm, but don't see that working with Nama Claws.

Well, I got the itch and tried the set up using some parts I had and I kind of like it. I know that out in the wild it will probably be different because of the bigger trees out there.
I used a small carabiner one side and raped around the tree. On the other side I went around the tree and used a Figure 9 carabiner for tightening. I hung my tarp hooked to an mini s carabiner using a prusik knot for centering. Worked pretty good.

Thanks 1-Hung-Low, I don't know how I missed them. I know I looked. It looks like more money for Dutch from me ;-)

I tried many, many options over the years and this is what I've settled on as well.

I have toiled over this for a while and recently went back to a single ridge line rather my my standard split lines, just to satisfy myself which made more sense. I get the idea of wavering trees imparting the forces on the tarp instead of the ridge line, with the solution being, ease the prussik or hardware bit to ease the tension on the tarp and let the ridge line take the load. However, I can do the same with the mini ucr on each of the split lines should the need arise. Or, if it is particularly windy set the tarp with a bit more slack in the ridge.

In the end, I went back to split ridge lines.

My two favorites are both continuous ridgelines. One is zing it with a small loop alien on the fixed end that makes it easy to set the v. The other end has a dutch wasp. I use 2 nama claws in the middle. The other is similar with a large loop alien and a nite ize figure nine on amsteel. I use homemade aluminum toggles prussik hitched on this one. I like the amsteel on my winter tarp.

Have two questions about CRL using 2mm line such as Lawson Glowire.
    1. If prusiks are used, should that line be Zingit 1.75 to optimize tension?
    2. Does 2mm line mean Dutch Hooks & FlyZ (or Wasps) need to be replaced by knots? If so, would Blake's Hitch would hold?

In my experience, Glowire-on-Glowire (same diameter) is ideal for Prusiks.

Zing-it-on-Glowire will definitely work, but almost too well because it really digs in under tension, making it hard to release and VERY annoying to adjust. However, it's good to play around with various materials and see for yourself. I made some Prusiks with Atwood micro cord (1.2mm braided polyester) and they worked fine, but again they had way more bite than necessary and frustratingly balky to move/release.

I have a tarp with split ridge line (SLD Simplicity asym) and use Blake's hitch with that and it also works fine with Glowire all 'round. That tarp comes with LL3s on the corners, which also work well with Glowire. Also perhaps play around with Klemheist/Hedden, Farrimond, or other friction knots with different number of wraps to see how they work.

Klemheist knot seems to work very well tried it on zing it,knot gripped a bit to well when wet,i am going to try glow wire 2mm or 2.5mm for my CRL, Prusiks knots seemed to work well on that with zing it loops and a little carabiner to the tarp, probably with loop aliens for tensioning side and carabiner at fixed end, will give a go anyway
