I got the idea for this type of set up because I thought I remembered seeing it offered on a cottage manufactured tarp recently, but I very well could be wrong ( at most likely am lol). I got the regular metal mitten hooks that HG offers to save from spending on the Ti ones until I know for sure that I both like this set up AND if works. However,if the consensus is that even they won't be strong enough, I'll just switch over to Dutch hooks or use the 4mm soft shackles that I've got.

stress-wise on the mitten hook: as long as you're doing it the same way as you would with a Dutch clip, where the tree is taking all of the tension, and the hook only holds the line in place (and you're careful about making sure the tree is what is taking the tension and not the hook) then I would say it's probably fine.
however if you run into any issues make sure you come back here and update this post so that future searchers who dig this up see the conclusion.
