I haven't really noticed it by my head but maybe I haven't paid enough attention! I was planning to put them both at the foot end to give me options on lay direction which I've liked with the Chameleon so far.

I've been hesitant to get going on this because I'm thinking of putting the shock cord directly in the side hem channels but haven't come across that much in any instructions I've seen so far.
This doesn’t help exactly but I have seen some instructions before on using the side channels. That’s how I planned to do it before I ended up selling the hammock with the knotty mods.
I did have some issues on the head end with my pillow (or stuff sack with clothes) falling out. Seemed to help.
And as was mentioned above, you can flip the hammock over if you want the knotty mods on the other side.

I often rest my head on the edge of the hammock when reading, so I wouldn't want shock-cord at that part of the hammock as it would dig into my head.

So I put my knotty-mods on both sides of the foot-end.

I run the shock cord through the side hems, and leave a small opening in the hem stitching for the ends of the knotty mod to emerge. I don't make them adjustable - I don't see the need.
