VIDEO: 4 Dudes Bumming on the Ice Age Trail

Four dudes were excited to get back into the woods. The Lake Eleven Campsite located on the Ice Age Trail near Gilman, Wisconsin was a perfect location to camp two nights. Rob, Chuck, and I welcomed our new friend Miyagi. Good food, scenic location, and some juvenile shenanigans with the guys made this trip a fun one.

That boat race was entertaining. Nothing beats a few days away with some good friends.

Last I knew the trail is closed to camping?? Did I miss something?

"As of 5/01/2020, 34 of the 40 state parks, forests, and natural areas, previously closed, have now been reopened. Reopening does NOT extend to restrooms, campsites, towers, shelters, playgrounds, nature centers, headquarters, contact stations, and concession buildings. These facilities remain closed until May 26, 2020."

They have opened trails in the Chequamegon to day hiking but still have not opened the forest to dispersed camping. They still are encouraging local travel only and of course social distancing. So yea......................

Wisconsin Governor opened dispersed camping on state forests prior to our trip. I was under the understanding that the Governors had a say on how open National Forest were in their states (many other National Forests around the country are open). I guess we should have gone to a state forest instead of a national forest. Oops. In Minnesota, our Governor said for fishing opener, if you can drive there and back one one tank of gas it was OK. We did that. MN trails are better and are open now. :-)

Jeremy, your whole video was a testament to selfish and stupid action. A lack of understanding for anything was pretty blatant.

Pretty sure the mouse or squirrel chewed through overnight while it was hung. I actually hung it on a branch away from the tree. Rodent woud have had to climb down the rope and hold a chew upside down. I am going away from an ursack to lighten up now.
