    As others said, done both and went to Becket Hitch. I had tree trouble once with whoopies.

    "Extra weight" is a relative term here. Yes, cinch buckles and straps really are pretty light in weight, but for the light weight/ultra-light weight backpackers out there, there are much lighter options available. If that kind of thing is important to you, then ditching the cinch buckles and long straps for whoopie slings and short little tree huggers is a quick and easy way to cut some weight (again, relatively speaking, the savings is just a few ounces).

    Buckles/Straps are easier, but Whoopies are so much more fun to make and play with.

    I am a whoopie guy. I tried daisy chain straps this past weekend and did not have near the adjustability. Today I put the whoopies back on for this weekend.

    If there was 2 ounce buckle system I’d never use anything else. I find buckles and straps east to use. I use other things to reduce weight on my harder backpacking trips.
