I'm experimenting with different tarp deployment configurations, pairing up my Ridgerunner hammock with my UGQ Winterdream 12' tarp. I seam sealed the tarp over the weekend and am just starting to play with it. When I ordered it, I did specify the side pullouts to match up with Ridgerunner spreader bars.
I really like the idea of the extreme spaciousness created by the end pole mod. But when I try to set it up, I can't get the pole up very high under the tarp...but maybe it's not supposed to go almost vertical? The poles are 11' from Dutch (his were cheaper at the time) and I measure them to be right around 133 inches, tip to tip.
Here's a photo of the tarp, one end with the internal pole and one with the external...any ideas? Or is this how it's supposed to look? There's quite a bit of space under there so maybe this is 'good enough'. The pole does have a shock cord tied in the middle and secured to the ring at the end of the tarp's ridge line with a mitten hook to keep it from falling in towards the center of the tarp. No way it's going to move toward the end.
