Yes, you'd be pulling against the main wall, which is what I suspect indoor hangers need to attach to. I think most walls should have somewhere suitably strong.
The column then only needs to support the vertical loading, like the tensa stand, walking poles or a bicycle.
I wonder what kind of load would be on the house if you used a pulley.
Your only changing the direction, not adding any mechanical advantage. So the load on the house would be the same as the column would have taken.

The "pulley" could be anything that allows the suspension to pass through. A webbing sling choked around the top of the column leaving a small loop to thread through could work.
