    Hello, Newbie from Southern NH!

    Hello, All

My name is Dinh(silent H), and I am an X-ray tech from NH that have been working in Boston for nearly 20 years. I've been on furlough from work since the beginning of April, due to the COVID19 issue, and have found myself with a lot of free time. Of course, I'm also getting a lot of house projects and to-do things completed.
With the weather warming up, I've been spending a bit of my free time outdoors. I've sinced picked up a sub $30 double hammock off Amazon and have had it set up in the backyard. I've also taken it on my woods walk and just chilling out in the wilderness. I've also purchased a $50 lightweight UQ off Amazon, and have spent a night in the backyard. While I did wake up quite a few times, I wasn't really uncomfortable. No achiness the next day. I'm guessing it was just because it's just not as comfy as my bed, and of course the different environmental setting.
My goal is to do some overnighter backpacking excursions while I have all this free time. Although my enjoyment for the outdoors have never waned, I haven't been backpacking sinced my college days in the early '90s. My wife and teenage kids are just not into the wilderness roughing it thing. So, my hope is to be able to hook up with like minded people on this forum to join me on these excursions......with at least 6ft of distancing, of course
I'm also learning a lot, watching videos on YT, such as Shug's. Thus far, my cheapo equipment is serving me well, since I have nothing else to compare it to, but as I said, what I have, is so far, working fine. However, I'm sure I'll learn and experience a lot more as I progress thru time. So, for now, I'm just going to read, watch, listen and learn.

Welcome to HF, Dinh! As long as it gets you out into the woods, it doesn't matter how much your gear costs. You'll upgrade as you see fit. I've got some nice gear for certain circumstances and I have some inexpensive gear for the rest of the time. I enjoy it all. I hope you do too.
Oooh, shiney! What does THIS button do?
