    Superfly or Mountainfly

I am looking for a new tarp for winter camping. I mainly camp in Kentucky so the lowest I have had my current setup would be about 10 degrees. I have a Warbonnet Minifly but would like something with a little bit more of a door but not sure I need the full doors of the Superfly. Does anyone have both? Would the Thunderfly be enough if you pitched it low for cold weather camping?

Those full doors are nice when the wind is blowing in Winter.
Superfly comes with me in Winter.

Ditto. Mine happens to be an old Speer winter tarp, but essentially the same dimensions & coverage as the Superfly. Doesn't need to be a Minnesota winter to make the doors a welcome thing.

Same here. I have both and the Superfly goes with me except on my SUL summer hikes. Splurge for the panel pull poles. Worth the 4.4oz opening up the inside of the tarp for more room.

I have a Thunderfly and it's great for 3 season and windy/wet weather, but for cold weather I'd want the extra width and full doors of the Superfly. The Mountainfly is the same the width as the Superfly, but the doors don't provide as much coverage.

I take my Superfly on all my trips to cover the unexpected.

I don't like a tarp with doors, I always seem to be fighting with them. Then again, I don't winter camp. MOUNTAINFLY!

    Superfly or Mountainfly

I own Superfly and love it. I take it when I know the weather is going to be foul or when it's gonna be cold. otherwise, I take a much smaller hex tarp. if I could only have one tarp, it'd be the Superfly.

I think I have decided on the Superfly and the outside pole mod. I watched a few videos and it really looked like it opened it up on the inside. Thanks for all the input.
