Of course the choice depends on when covid lifts and if the airlines haven’t furloughed all of their pilots by then...I agree with Silver Surfer about the beauty of the AT. Section hiking is best. If you’ve never been to the southwest, hiking in Sedona AZ and the Grand Canyon is something most people would never forget! Let’s hope all of our country reopens soon.

Imagine being a ranger in Yosemite right now. No crowds. Probably chilling in their hammock watching a bear go by. Sounds about perfect.

May i make a suggestion? Wait until late summer or early fall. You will have way more options. Partly because of pandemic, and mostly because all the fun stuff at higher elevations melts out around July, with September being an ideal time for the mountains (bugs are dead, kids are in school, snow is melted, temps are low but not cold, weather is pleasant).

We have a lot of fun stuff our here on the west side. Tall snow-capped mountains, too many to mention.

Check out my Oregon Wallowa Mountains trip report from last year for some inspiration. Highly recommended area, good for week-long trips with non-stop gobsmacking scenery. Its like the John Muir trail, but with better hammocking options. No permits required.

And +1 for the Kalalau Trail on Kauai.

This was nice. That is a nice waterfall pouring from one lake into another in the lower right Sawtooth Mountains ID.

This is nice as well. Mt. Shuksan, Mt. Baker, Mt. Olympus, WA:

And this, the Wind River Mountains in WY:

(view to the N. east from that HH:

    View to the south:

    View East/South East:

That was all at Lonesome Lake, but a few miles down the trail at Clear Lake:

So, kind of hard to choose. But all are worth a trip!
