    Hammock side pull outs

Hey guys. I知 a noob but curious about guying out you hammock sides. Do you guy out your hammock side pull outs? If so, under what conditions and why?
I知 not talking about tarp. I知 talking about your hammock or under quilt.
How do you do it and where (which side).

    Thanks

    Iceman.

If I do it at all, it’s to keep the built-in bug net away from my face. I’d have to align my diagonal lie with the side that has the pull-out the head end. But it is just as easy to put a bit of clothing or small pillow up there to sort of push the netting away - if it’s a problem. I usually don’t use a pillow in a gathered end hammock and if I do, it would more probably be used as a knee support. If I have a light jacket or shirt, I might wedge it to the side. But first, mosquitoes have to be a problem and second, the netting has to have been cut in some fashion that there’s enough slack to get close to my face. So it really doesn’t come up very often for me.
In order to see what few have seen, you must go where few have gone. And DO what few have done.

    Ditto.

I have a Warbonnet Eldorado with a built-in (removable) bug net. It has a pull out at the head end to keep the net off my face. It's on the same side I enter/exit the hammock. When I use it, I usually attach the bug net guy line to the corner tarp pull nearest my head. Since I'm usually in porch mode, that tarp pull is elevated at the height of my trekking pole. That's the perfect angle to pull the net away from my hammock and my face. Works for me. YMMV.

I don't use guy lines for my hammock or UQ otherwise. I don't really see a need.

I like to use the pull outs, unless it's really cold. Also to keep the bug net out of my face (I have a Hennessy Explorer Zip), but I also find that it makes the hammock "roomier" and make my diagonal lay more comfortable. But yes, if I want to lie in the other diagonal direction, then I don't use the pull outs.

I usually don't bother - never noticed any benefit to using the pull-outs.

I use the back side religiously. I am left lay, so that the right side pull out for me. In deep bug season I use both.

I don't like the flop of fabric in my face and even with knotty mods there is always a flap that needs wrangling. I use Half Wit style hammocks predominantly, and pulling the hammock side out helps to seal the bug net to the hammock body sides.

I always use both sides on my dream hammocks, I like that it opens up the hammock more and keeps the bug net/overcover off my face and it makes the hammock seem more roomier
