When a Feral Tom Marks Your Hammock

    Hey there HF,

So, this morning I noticed a few marks on the underside of my hammock that I left out last night.

    *sniff sniff*

    Cat marking. The Tom kind.

I know exactly which mean little guy did it. But the question now is, does anyone have any experience with this problem?

    How did you solve it?

So far, I used rubbing alcohol to hit the marks, followed by dish soap. The hammock is now soaking in a 5gal bucket with Woolite in there. I'm hoping it comes out.

Any other tips? I only have a good ol-fashioned American top-loader washing machine and I noticed lots of people recommending them euro-fancy front-loaders.

    Thanks a lot in advance!

I'd just wash the hammock. For future deterrent: Here you go.

Craig Turner is absolutely hilarious and fun to watch. His play by play commentary as the cats get nailed is to die for.

After watching these two, I'm right there with you. Too many unfixed cats round these parts. Initially tolerated them when I moved in but now they've slighted one of the things I love. Oz has quite the cat problem.

Update: the hammock was soaked and agitated in the bucket described above with woolite. Then hung and hosed down. The thing has dried and is without the foul stench of male cat urine.

Put her back in yer snakeskins when you're going beddy byes boys.

Don't know how the fabric would handle this, but the best urine neutralizer I know of is a mild solution of vinegar and water.

We'll see! If the alcohol does break down the quality of the 70D I'll follow up.

I have the same problem and this is the only thing that has worked: Orbit Infrared Sprinkler. cats hate water.

For cleaning, I agree with vinegar. I tried every conceivable cleansing agent there was on some cigarette smoked materials and vinegar was the clear winner.
