    I picked up the aluminum camo netting poles off ebay a number of years ago. The prices/shipping vary considerably, but if you stay vigilant you may be able to make a reasonable purchase.

    Thanks for the tip on the scaffolding swivel clamps. Those are bound to come in handy.

    For the XX-Stand I make up two triangles, each with a base of two poles and both sides of the triangle have three poles.

    The bases are 6-feet 6-inches apart. Lay the apex of the triangles to overlap each other. When the sections are raised, the outside pole where the "X" is created is 2-feet from the ground.

    Two section poles to support the triangles ends. Adjust to where the apex of the triangles are secured by the 8-foot section poles so that at the top span of these support poles are 14-feet apart. That becomes the integrated ridgeline for your tarp, I use a 4x4-meter tarp for this.

    So the traveling package is as follows:

    8-poles per triangle and 2-poles per support.

    8+8+2+2 = 20 poles @ 2.2-lbs per pole = 44-lbs

    5-canvass bags with 4-poles in each bag; each bag weighs 8.8-lbs + bag weight.

    I'm really liking this freestanding version. I have a fire pit in the backyard between two Cherry trees that are about 25' apart. I was considering building a Pergola so we'd have a permanent place to hang out there. But a few of these might suit my needs better and also help with the truck camping when my son wants to go. He's not into backpacking ....yet.
