    Heavy duty hammock

I have a friend that sleeps in a gathered end hammock every night for the last five or six years. He has been through several cheaper hammocks that have ripped from daily use. He is looking for a hammock made out of a very durable material. Weight is not a issue since it is used only at the house. Anybody have suggestions?

I just did a video on hammock fabrics that may give some insight.
Body weight and other variables come into play.

Sure. Supplex nylon from Quest Outfitters was what I used on my first insulated hammocks. I asked them what they recommended, and they said Ed Speer used Supplex. It turned out later that Ed only used it for very heavy hangers, so I could have used something lighter. I'm glad I started with Supplex though. It feels great - very soft. https://www.questoutfitters.com/unco...cs.htm#SUPPLEX Second choice would be 2.2 Hexon.

If this is for indoor use, get a brazilian hammock like this one. They will last decades. Holds 450lbs.

The Grand Trunk Double Hammock is rated for 400 pounds. I've been sleeping in one for years with no failures. I weigh 260.

Fabric of the LaSiesta Carolina (traditional Colombian cotton) is heavier than any other canvas hammock I’ve found. Full time since 2013. I didn’t tear other hammocks, but lighter ones develop ruts. Carolina holds up, really well made.

It might help if you mentioned how much your friend weighs and perhaps how tall he/she is. I believe the strongest (and largest) hammock I have is a BIAS (Butt in a Sling) Camper XL 1.9oz ripstop with 300 lb. rating.

Look for something with Nylon 6 in it. Strong but lighter weight.

You mention weight is not an issue being at home. But comfort obviously will be. It's sort of a trial and error unfortunately.

The Warbonnet Traveler with 1.7 ripstop I used to have felt bullet proof, but not comfortable for me personally.

The Clark Hammocks that Dutch is now selling are supposed to be tough. I have never used one though.
