Greetings! I'm a backpacker who's been heavily influenced by the ultralight community. Like many of you I've also been a Shug fan for several years now. I hope to soon combine a lightweight pack and long miles with a good nights sleep. I also have an interest in the DIY world so I'm looking forward to adventuring into that as well.

I'll see y'all on the threads and hopefully on the trail!

Aloha from Hawaii! If you're already a gram weenie you'll fit right in to the hammock crowd! Only with better sleep out in the woods

Welcome to HF from the Midwest and a former resident of the Upstate. SC is definitely a great place to hammock.

We are definitely blessed in this area. Close proximity to the AT, Western North Carolina, not the mention the Foothills Trail in our back yard. It'd be a shame to not spend some time in the woods around here.

    Welcome to HF!

Since you're interested in UL and hammocking, we have a brand new Ultralight Gear sub-forum here, although you have to be a donating member to participate in this and other non-hammock related sub-forums. $10/yr so not a bad deal.

There are some extremely light (yet quite comfortable) setups that even a hard-core gram weenie can relate to... well under 3 lbs for hammock, suspension, tarp, topquilt and underquilt.

You know what I've already been eyeing those donating member forums and thinking about taking the plunge. The price really isn't that bad so I'll probably go ahead and chip in for it.
