    Moving to WA

Hey everyone! Im happy to report that after 5 years in Hawaii (never used our hammocks here), im getting stationed in the Bremerton area come fall. Just wondering some must camp places, extra gear I may need, upcoming hangs, good trails, etc. Im super excited to get back to the woods!

What up, highlife! Jerzey Bears are somewhere up there, so check them out. Maztrain is also in the Northwest.

Will do Silvr! Good to see you doing good. It has been awhile! I miss the AT and hikes/camps there!

I grew up in western WA. You definitely won't have a problem finding trees on which to hang. But you may want some extra long straps; because those trees can be quite girthy!

    Olympic National Forest is gorgeous.

    Oh man, so many...

    Deception Pass
    Mt. Rainier
    Hoh Rainforest
    Lake Crescent
    Olympic National Park
    North Cascades National Park
    Blanca Lake

    To name a few.

I’ve been hammocking for 3 years or so now, so still somewhat new to the community, but it seems the whole group hang thing hasn’t really caught on here yet. Samesons organized the first ever at Deception Pass last spring. Unfortunately I couldn’t go and never did hear much about how it went.

Here are a couple threads you might want to post in.

    Hey there,
Have been creeping (hate to use that word, but seems to fit!) on this site waiting to find some fellow Washington peeps to wanna hang and have yet to find it. Have met a couple going to Meetup events or on FB groups, but nothing from here as of yet. Seems to be a few more in the Oregon area. I personally go out a minimum of twice a month- generally every weekend and sometimes twice a week if I have the time off...Am quite a bit further north, but I'm usually willing to drive 2 hours or so for an overnight and more if it's longer. I was just in the Quilcene river area this weekend and in the Issaquah area last weekend. If ya wanna hang sometime lemme know!: )

Welcome to the NW of the PNW. Lots of trees to hang from but some long straps and a dogbone or two help a lot. ONP and the Cascades will keep you busy for a while but don't forget the coast. IMG_20200726_190329597.jpg (Rialto Beach/Hole in the Wall - Aug 2020)
