    I've had and have both.

Go for the doors. You can leave them pinned back when not used or until you get more comfortable with setup. If you have them you don't have to use them until you need them.. but if you don't have them and need them.. well....
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

I am up to 6 tarps now (WB Superfly & Mountainfly, SLD Wind Haven & Winter Haven, a HG Dynema Palace, and an old hex), but if I was going to have to pick only one tarp to have it would be one with doors and most likely the Superfly (with the exterior pole mod). It is a good all around tarp at a good price. Maybe more than you need for summer, doesn't have the room of the interior pole mods on my SLD tarps, but a good balance of everything. Just my 1/2 a cents worth.

For those not wanting to go out and buy another tarp you can checkout 2QZQ's Grizz Beaks they even make them out of dilemma cuben fiber for the weight consus.

You can also send them your tarp and they can add one or two sets of doors.

I like doors myself. They keep drafts from stealing some warmth.

Well guys, I ordered a tarp with doors. My adventure and learning are about to begin. I plan to practice in the back yard then head to hills as soon as I can. Thanks for all of your input, I appreciate it.

Congrats! Now that you've entered the portal and made that first decision, you get to make even more tarp decisions! Continuous Ridge Line (CRL) vs Split, hanging tarp over or under CRL should you decide to go that route, What to use for cordage, hardware vs knots, what kind of stakes to use, and I'm sure there's a lot more but I'm just getting going on my first cup. It's a lot of fun making these decisions and don't be afraid to make changes because over time, I'm sure you will! Also, there is no one "right" way to do most of these things. There are lots of ways to skin the hammock/tarp cat. Remember, the search function is your friend or just ask-it's been kind of slow of late so we need something to keep us stirred up!

If I could have only one it'd be something with doors that handles the worst weather. Which is the HG Palace, or the WB Superfly as the budget allows.

But I've been hanging for about 2.5yrs and now have 6 or 7, which is not uncommon in the hammock universe. I've ridden out some pretty bad weather in a 11' HG Hex (no doors) without too many problems. The main highlights regarding pitching are to try to camp someplace with natural wind blocking and to pitch broad side to the wind. And hope like heck the wind direction doesn't change, realizing that if stuff does get wet it's usually not the end of the world.
